Articles - That Nagging Inner Voice

You know when you’re laying in bed and your mind is just chatting away, and you know unless you shut it up, you won’t get to sleep? Or when you start rolling on a negative conversation with yourself. Then you think, I mustn’t be negative, and start telling yourself how bad you are for being negative!

What is the inner voice, and more importantly, can it be stopped for some peace? It’s been seen to be the Devil on one shoulder and the Angel on the other. In a way it is, our thinking voice swings between thinking in love or fear. We also communicate with the outside world in the same way. Our fears take many forms, because of this, it’s more likely to have a fear thought. Even our society gives us fear thoughts “Mind the gap, be careful, and take care”.

But the mind is a wonderful thing, and can easily be trained into stopping this way of thinking. Simply, think again! The way to do that is think, what would love do? I had to make a difficult phone call to ask someone I’ve never met to do a favour for me. I just couldn’t make the call. My fear voice was enjoying putting me down. So I asked my love voice. The reply was that I like to help people, and I was giving this person the opportunity to do something I love doing, helping. I made the call, they said yes. Thinking is a creative. You draw close to you what you think about. Create your life from your highest intention, and not your greatest fear.
